The Tadrart, located 200 km southeast of Djanet and south of the Tassili N'Ajjer National Park, offers an incredible diversity of landscapes. It is famous for its sands of various colors, notably red. This place allows you to discover breathtaking panoramas, with intensely black rocks, deep canyons, dunes of shifting hues, sandstone castles, rock formations resembling cathedrals, gueltas (water pools), and plains bathed in light.
Day 1: Departure for Tadrart
- Welcome by the Tuareg team at the airport and transfer to the camp for a restful night.
- Wake up to a hearty breakfast before departing by 4×4 to the majestic Tadrart massif.
- Arrival at Oued Imaharhaten for a traditional lunch followed by a picturesque drive to Elberdj.
- Evening under the stars with dinner and bivouac in the enchanting region of Elberdj after approximately 5 hours of transfer.
Day 2: Elberdj – Marcaoindi – Moul Naga
- A three-hour hike is undertaken after breakfast, crossing the Albaraj valley and discovering rock engravings and paintings.
- A meeting at Marcaoindi with the guide, chef, and 4×4 is planned for a lunch break.
- The afternoon is dedicated to another three-hour hike towards the dunes of Moul Naga, visiting shelters adorned with rock art, before setting up camp amidst the dunes.
Day 3: Moul Naga – Wan Tfalghagh
- The day begins with a hike through the dunes, discovering shelters adorned with rock paintings, before meeting the team at Wan Tfalghagh for lunch.
- The hike continues in the afternoon towards the site of rock engravings and towards the dunes of Wan Zawatan for setting up the bivouac.
Day 4: Wan Zawatan – In Tehak – Bouhidien
- Ascent of the dunes leading to ancient natural fortresses.
- Discovery of historical plateaus with traces of prehistoric human occupation.
- Dinner and overnight in bivouac at Bouhidien.
Day 5: Bouhidien – Timerzouga
- Crossing dizzying needles forming natural cathedrals.
- Observation of monumental arches overlooking the valleys.
- Exploration of canyons with surprising walls carved in ochre and sandy rock.
- Dinner and overnight in bivouac at Timerzouga.
Day 6: Timerzouga – Cirque – Hararouf
- The hike begins towards the “Coupe du Monde” rock and Cirque cave, before rejoining the team for lunch.
- In the afternoon, the walk continues towards Hararouf, where dinner and bivouac are planned.
Day 7: Hararouf – Tilifazou
- The hike leads through a once silent plain, now animated by the footsteps of hikers and the whisper of the wind, before reaching the red dunes.
- Dinner and bivouac are planned at Tilifazou.
Day 8: Tilifazou – In Tehak – Bouhidien
- The day begins with a walk to admire rock engravings and the “Africa Arch” at In Tehak, followed by an exploration of plateaus and traces of prehistoric human presence at Bouhidien.
- Evening and night are spent outdoors at Bouhidien.
Day 9: Bouhidien – Ain Toubourek – Oued Indjaren
- Morning stroll before taking an all-terrain vehicle back to Djanet.
- Passing through the sites of Bouhidien, In Tehak, Ouan Zaouten, and Oued Indjaren.
- Dinner and overnight in bivouac at Adjalti.
Day 10: Return to Djanet
- Return to Djanet to visit the famous “Crying Cow” engraving.
- After lunch, free time to explore the town of Djanet and the opportunity to refresh.
- Free time to discover the local souk as desired.
- Dinner at Tigharghrt with a musical evening followed by transfer to the airport.

- A visa is mandatory for foreign nationals, but with this visa on arrival procedure for Djanet and Tamanrasset, you no longer need to visit consulates or embassies.
- The visa on arrival procedure is managed by your travel agency. Upon booking, the agency handles all necessary formalities for you.
Form and Documentation:
- At the time of booking, your agency will send you a form to fill out.
- Complete this form and return it to the agency along with a scanned copy of your passport.
Processing by the Agency:
The agency submits the completed form and a photocopy of your passport to the Ministry of Tourism and Handicrafts in Algeria. You will then receive a confirmation in the form of a “let pass”, typically within 15 days.
During Check-in:
Present your let pass to board. This document is essential for check-in and entry into the country.
Upon Arrival in Algeria:
You will need to present the following documents:
- Your pass.
- Pay the visa fee: €96 or 14,000 Algerian dinars. Payment can be made in cash, with the option of euros (prices subject to change).
- A bank statement or proof of income (such as a pay slip, tax assessment, or retirement certificate).
- Your round-trip airline ticket.
- Your repatriation insurance certificate.
Affixing the visa:
Once these steps are completed, a visa will be affixed to your passport, allowing you to begin your journey to Djanet or Tamanrasset.
