Oran Escape: Culture, Coast & Western Algeria

This circuit is available year-round. Oran enjoys a pleasant Mediterranean climate in every season: spring and autumn are ideal, summer is hot and beach-friendly, winter remains mild with a few showers.

Visa on arrival is not available for stays starting directly in northern cities such as Algiers, Oran or Annaba.

To benefit from visa on arrival, you must begin your stay at a southern destination eligible for this scheme. Once there, you can then continue your journey northwards (Algiers, Oran, Annaba).

Two options are therefore available to you:

* Either begin your itinerary in the south to obtain a visa on arrival, then continue northwards.
* Or apply for a standard visa at the consulate before your departure.

• Best period: Spring (April–June) and autumn (September–November) are ideal. Summer is hot but pleasant thanks to the sea breeze. Winter is mild with some rain (especially October–February).
• Seaside city: Oran is a Mediterranean resort — plan light clothing and swimwear in summer.
• Respect for local customs: Oran is an Algerian city with conservative culture. Respect local traditions, particularly regarding dress and behaviour.
• Currency: The Algerian dinar (DZD) is the local currency. Exchange money on arrival.
• Excursions: Bring good walking shoes for natural sites (El Ourit waterfalls, Beni Add caves) and covered clothing for mosques and religious sites.

Temperatures remain generally moderate, but conditions can be damp and cool:

Mornings and evenings can be cold
Often windy and rainy (especially between October and February)
